For over 50 years, the Encanto Branch Boys & Girls Club has stood as a cornerstone for youth development in southeast San Diego. However, flood damage coupled with pandemic-related learning loss and shifting interests of club members has prompted the Boys & Girls Club to examine their existing facility and invest in shaping the Club of the Future.
This project reorganizes storage to define new activity zones along the edge of the existing gym space, each with their own character. Designated spaces for Esports, a Computer Lab, Makerspace, STEM Lab and Recording Studio are created while the central Gym space is left open and flexible for Exer-games, robotics arenas, guest presentations, and free play.
